Scholarship value/inclusions:

The Gates Scholarship is very good. It pays for everything at Cambridge. This includes tuition and living costs. PhD students get 4 years of funding. Also covered are flights and visa fees. The allowance in 2023-24 is £20,000. Costs are prorated for shorter courses. Scholars can focus on study. Money issues won’t distract them. The Scholarship wants to bring top talent to Cambridge. Applicants must show potential for leadership. Winners will improve the world. Many become influential in their fields. All costs are covered so they can succeed. The Gates Scholarship invests in a better future.

You can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship if you are:

A citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom.

Applying to pursue one of the following full-time residential courses of study: PhD (full-time or part-time*), MSc or MLitt (full-time), or a one year postgraduate course (full-time) with some exceptions (see list above).

For October 2024 entry, Gates Cambridge is continuing to pilot a scheme which allows applicants to apply for funding for a part-time doctoral degree.
